Albrecht von Wallenstein was murdered here on 25 February 1634. Johannes Kepler, who drew up his horoscope, knew the time and cause of his death but refused to tell him. (See Jičín.) After midnight the murdered Wallenstein's apparition appears at the castle in a carriage drawn by four black horses with flames shooting from their eyes. Inside sits the ghost with a bloody stain on his chest. Six ghostly horsemen trot alongside the carriage with swords drawn.
