In the book, giants are the opposite of dwarfs and combine human, animal and demonic features. Legends place them around ancient hillforts and use them to explain the origin of immense buildings and rocks. Some stories portray them as the last members of an ancient race and also credit them with eating people or children.

Where it appears

Ancient settlement sites, hillforts and prominent rock formations.

What the old legends say

The legends offer no universal spell against giants. People are more likely to survive through flight, concealment or ingenuity. Entering places giants considered their homes, or trying to take their possessions, was particularly dangerous.
